Dr. J. Pak is a Korean-American physician who received his BA degree from University of California, Berkeley and MD degree from University of Southern California, School of Medicine. After his training at a UCLA affiliatedhospital,he practiced geriatric medicinein California with emphasis in pain management. In 2009, he relocated to Seoul, Korea and started clinical research and applicationof adipose tissue-derived stem cells(ADSCs)in the form of stromal vascular fraction(SVF) on cartilageand bone regeneration. In July 2011, he published the first case series report of regeneration ofcartilage in osteoarthritisof knees and regenerationbones in osteonecrosisof the femoral head. Being recognized for the significance of his work, he was awardedCase Report of the Yearfor 2011 by Biomed Central.  Afterwards,he has continuously published journalarticles thatrelate to regeneration of bone and cartilage usingADSCs.  He also has few patents relatingto ADSCs.
